Our Locally Made Organic Aprons

I have to be honest… I did not begin my business with an eco-friendly stance. However, as my business has grown so has my sense of responsibility in considering the materials and production processes I use within my business and their impact on the environment . Despite a larger financial investment in having items made within the UK I have a strong belief that that when making a purchase from Seed Home Designs you are buying something of quality that will last and will not be a throw away item.

From the start of Seed Home Designs I was drawn to the natural organic fabrics and I also really wanted the opportunity to work with local makers were ever possible.

This was why I was so excited to meet Jane a local seamstress when I was looking to create a lovely unique apron design. With a background in garment making and an interest only on small batch in order to balance work alongside her farm she was the perfect fit!

My first meet up with Jane earlier this year involved lots of tea and cake and chatter, enthusiastically bouncing ideas around on how we could create a gorgeous organic apron that would be a really useful wear all day kind of garment. We even carefully thought out the making process so that we could respect the materials we used used and get our making production down to nearly zero material waste.

We decided to create two alternative pocket designs using a substantial natural organic cotton twill fabric. Each pocket has separate sections, to hold useful items such as a phone, scissors and pencil. We also added a handy loop at the back of the apron to hold a tea towel or something of the like. We wanted to design something that was very simply made but with care, thought and attention to detail. We hope that you like them as much as we enjoyed making them here in Cornwall! Aprons are available through our home and gifts page here.

Launching Our Fabric Sample Box To The Interior Trade

While time felt like it stood still over 2020, here at the Seed Home Designs studio Naomi has been quietly working behind the scenes to plan, prepare and launch her fabrics to the interior design trade.

As owner of a small independent business, she initially developed and made up a limited run of pre-made boxes, which exceeded her initial expectations and have sold out! We are now in the process of printing and making sample boxes for new applications after investing in more equipment to speed up the sample making progress, without compromising on quality and attention.

We are keen to work with the right businesses for us, so if you are an established interior business interested in opening a Seed Home Designs fabric trade account you can find out more and make an application by clicking here.
